ABOUT ME

I am a certified birth doula serving the Austin, TX area. I work with all women in all birth settings with all types of providers. I am here to support your strength...your voice...your birth.

My doula philosophy is simple: This is your birth. You have been growing and loving this child. You hold the decision-making power in the birth room. And only you can bring that baby into the world. I will support, nurture, and guide you through the physical and emotional aspects of birth. I will offer information to you so that you can be well-informed about your choices.

I have learned that we cannot control birth. We don't know how it will unfold; birth can be very unpredictable. But we can prepare ourselves to be both flexible and informed. As your birth doula, I will come alongside you to help guide you through whatever path your birth takes.

The rebozo, as taught by Gena Kirby, is an ancient tool from Mexico that is used during labor to relax the mother. The Master Rebozo Credential is for those who have taken a live workshop with Gena Kirby along with viewing over 100 hours of coursework videos. The rebozo is used for relaxation measures, inclusion of the birth partner, comfort measures in labor, and pushing/transition.

Trauma-informed care from a doula refers to a higher level of care and understanding  when supporting survivors of  intimate partner violence, sexual trauma, or birth trauma, whether past or current. I offer pay-per-hour counseling to work through fears and triggers related to birth. I myself have personally experienced a traumatic birth and have recovered from it.

I have received advanced training in the use of a TENS unit, allowing me to assist my clients in its application and use during labor. A TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) unit is a handheld battery-operated device that transmits mild electrical impulses through the skin to stimulate nerve fibers. TENS is a safe, non-pharmacological method of pain control in labor and especially of back pain.
